The more I read about the benefits of a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, the more I am convinced that not only the body good, but it is also best for our planet. I recently read that the way to get the most nutrition from our food for us to eat “empty calories”. Until I read the article that I really understand what is meant by “empty calories”. It turns out that the definition of “food and beverages, which have the same energy content or calories, but lack vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids and fiber. Now does not that make sense, why eat food that will not provide nutrition to our bodies?
It was a great discovery for me, because I realized that I often eat food which in the long run will not meet their nutritional needs. I just spend precious calories, and money, and I get no benefits in return. I also realized that the price for the amount paid for the purpose of food. There is a price for our health, land, farmers, animals and even more important that our spirit.
In another article, I found that the study was conducted with 500,000 volunteers aged between 50 and 71 for meat to eat and mortality. Volunteers filled out a questionnaire in 1995 and a survey was conducted by the National Institutes of Health and the American Association for the 71,249 pensioners found that he died at the age of 10 The study took into account other factors including smoking, exercise, body weight and family history. The study also found that volunteers who ate the red and processed meats (bacon, sausages and Frankfurt) were 30% more likely to die in a given timeframe. The risk of premature death was found to be lower for those who are fish and poultry instead of beef and processed meat in their diet.
Another reason to become vegetarian or vegan is a recent Harvard Medical School study found that people who consumed one egg a day were 58-77% more likely to occur, type 2 diabetes. The study was conducted on 57,000 adults. Clearly, the results also suggest that high-cholesterol food can promote the development type 2 diabetes. It is important to recognize that plant foods are naturally cholesterol. Some research suggests that type 2 type can only be avoided with the vegan diet but can be reversed. Just more reasons to cut meat!
